Our Story...

VOX Church began when Pastor Matt Woodburn and his wife Katie were called to plant a church that would be a voice of truth, teaching the gospel in the Detroit Metro area. In the spring of 2010, Pastor Jonathan Seller joined the team as a small group of people began to meet in the basement of a home in Macomb, Michigan. The group grew and began to rally around the mission statement, "Because of the gospel, VOX Church exists to overcome religion through Christ-centered relationships, resulting in changed lives!".

With strong support from Colonial Woods Missionary Church and the Growing Healthy Churches network, VOX Church launched publicly in September 2010 at Carkenord Elementary School in Chesterfield, Michigan with over 300 people in attendance. Pastor Matt preached a gospel-centered sermon and stated that VOX Church intended to GATHER as one on Sunday mornings, GROW in small groups, and GO on mission to serve the community. A week later, VOX Church launched a highly attended small group ministry in homes throughout the area.

In September 2011, due to a lack of space at the elementary school, VOX Church moved to L'Anse Creuse High School North (LCHSN) in Macomb, Michigan. The gathering was packed at VOX's first public service at LCHSN. VOX Church continues to meet at LCHSN and is in awe as God continues to use her as a tool to reach the Detroit Metro area with the gospel!
